Our Teachers

Center Director Lisa Hearns is passionate about music and the development of children.  She believes that Music Together® is more than just a "mommy and me" class.  Lisa and her teachers create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's musical development.  We hope you'll come sample a class this Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, and see for yourself why Music Together is the most well loved early childhood music and movement program.

Center Director/Teacher

Lisa Hearns has been teaching music for twenty years, and is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  The daughter of two music teachers Lisa began singing and playing music at an early age. Lisa had the support and guidance of her mother who played professionally and taught piano for many years, and her father who taught singing at Boston University and later Lesley College.  Her training continued as a young woman, studying trumpet, piano, guitar and voice privately.  Lisa began playing professionally first in the New York tri-state area in the late 80's, then received her Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee.  While working toward her degree in Boston, Lisa began performing jazz, and teaching music privately.  She continues to work as a jazz vocalist, and has released two professional recordings.  Her latest recording has received airplay across the country on jazz radio, and was produced by 7 time Grammy award winning producer Elliot Scheiner.

Before opening Tiny Voices Music Together, Lisa apprenticed with Lili Levinowitz, PhD, Director of Research, Music Together, LLC and Coauthor of Music Together.  Lisa is excited about offering this program to families in the Matawan/Aberdeen area, and is dedicated to sharing the gift of music with her students.  In September 2013 Lisa received her Certification Level I for teaching mastery of Music Together, and she received her Certification Level II, Music Together's highest level of advanced certification in August, 2016.

Elana Eng became a Music Together mom in 2001, when her eldest child was a year old. With the birth of her second child, Elana continued classes with her children. When her first two children aged out of the program she took the Music Together training (2006) and taught for several years with both Music Together and Musikgarten programs in Monmouth and Mercer counties.

Elana has a great love for music making of all kinds, and singing. Over the course of nine years she has studied various instruments including piano, organ and clarinet. She still actively plays the clarinet, and has been involved in playing hand bells for 15 years. She can currently be seen playing with the hand bell choir of St. Thomas More Church of Manalapan. Elana also sings in two all-female choirs, including her church choir at St. Mary's Church in Colts Neck, and Upper Octave, which pairs with the New Jersey Gay Men's Chorus seasonally for their concerts.

In 2012 Elana had her third child, and took a break from teaching to once more become a parent participant.  Elana is very excited to teach the Music Together program and we are very excited to have her as part of our Tiny Voices Music Together, and share in helping us bring this wonderful program to the communities that we serve.
